Funeral and Memorial Ceremonies
When we lose a loved one we can find ourselves suffering from significant pain and distress.
This is when we are faced with many decisions that need to be made quickly.
The details of the funeral ceremony are the more urgent ones to be made - whether a burial or cremation, which Funeral Director, which Celebrant, what to include in the eulogy and many others. A memorial ceremony may allow for further time to consider the details, depending on how soon after the passing it is held.
The basis of a funeral or memorial ceremony cannot be standardised as each family is different and have different wishes and needs for solace.
The choice of whether there is to be a religious or civil funeral ceremony is based on the belief system of the deceased and their family following the passing of a close, loved one.
Civil Celebrants can very effectively fill the function when a non-religious ceremony is to be conducted.
The Celebrant can include some religious elements; e.g., the Lord's Prayer or 23rd Psalm, if the family request.
